The orange grove valley of Sóller

After driving along the incredible Coll de Sóller road, which we highly recommend, although it is now possible to access the town through a tunnel, the Sóller Valley of Oranges opens up splendidly before our eyes, one of the most beautiful sights on the island of Mallorca, which is produced exclusively in this privileged spot thanks to its peculiar climate.

Another wonderful way to enjoy this unique spectacle is on the century-old Sóller Train, which links the island's capital with this town. Orange trees are a representative element of this area in the north of the island. They were introduced by the Arabs and here they found an ideal ecosystem thanks to its adequate humidity, abundant water, plenty of sunshine and a soil of excellent fertility.

Since 2007 the towns of Sóller, Port de Sóller and Fornalutx have been celebrating "La Fira de la Taronja" (The Orange Fair), a tribute to this fruit which is present in a large part of the gastronomy of this privileged enclave and which can be enjoyed in a thousand different ways, one of the main ones being "Suc de Taronja", freshly squeezed orange juice. A flavour you will never forget.

This year the "Fira de la Taronja" is celebrated from March 18th to April 3rd, stay tuned because from the Hotel Espléndido we participate in this fair offering our customers a very special menu at noon with the sweet and delicious orange as the protagonist.
